Being a PhD Candidate at the CEBRIG offers me a wide array of opportunities. I interact with top researchers in various fields on a daily basis. Thanks to the activities at CEBRIG I have been able to develop the originality of my research and strengthen my analytical skills. Moreover, the Centre Emile Bernheim benefits from privileged partnership with numerous foreign institutions. It gave me the opportunity to organize two research stays in leading universities.

Since starting my PhD, I have realised that the academic ambiance is diverse with very welcoming people. I am working on mission drift in microfinance institutions and affiliated to the Centre for European Research in Microfinance (CERMi) at ULB. This is a very suitable place for one to write a PhD thesis due to the support and myriad of opportunities that this centre offers. I feel extremely fortunate to be part of the active research environment offered by the doctoral school which has afforded me a good start in my PhD studies. I have the opportunity to participate in interesting academic seminars, workshops and conferences where I meet scholars for networking and future research collaborations.
I find the amazing research atmosphere very enabling to smoothly undertake my PhD. I am also benefiting greatly from the wealth of experience and guidance of my supervisors, Prof. Ariane Szafarz and Prof. Roy Mersland. I feel confident that I am being prepared by the doctoral school to be an astute researcher. Truly, ULB is a great place for doctoral studies!

My time spent at the CEBRIG as a Ph.D. candidate is a life-changing experience. The research program is rewarding and challenging. I never stop working : thinking, reading, brainstorming, writing…The members are truly committed to mentoring, coaching and collaborating with Ph.D. students, which is a great asset for me. Every collaboration I have undertaken here has expanded the way I am thinking about the world.

By the end of my engineering studies, I knew I wanted to continue my education by doing a PhD thesis and turning to Management Science. I chose the field of Group Dynamics and more specifically to study the relationships between the types of interactions which are displayed in team meetings, performance, team member satisfaction and perceived conflict. Thanks to the courses provided by the Doctoral School in Management Science and Applied Economics I attended the first years of my thesis, I discovered various aspects of research (writing articles, introduction to qualitative and quantitative methods, …) and could use these skills to conduct a research from A to Z, from defining the first research questions and hypotheses, setting up an experiment to analyzing data.
